Maltese Puppies
What to Expect
Maltese are small, friendly dogs with soft, "hypoallergenic" coats. They are great companion dogs and have gentle temperaments ranging from playful to lap dogs. We have bred many litters of puppies and we have a long list of happy puppy families. See video above (from the AKC) for more information on the Maltese breed and also our FAQ on this page.

Litter sizes nor male/female can be guaranteed. Any interested party will be notified how many people are ahead of them in line. This does not guarantee a timeline, as litter sizes or the composition of males/females could affect the wait time drastically. Careful consideration must be made as to how long one is willing to wait for their fur baby.
Waiting list deposits are a non-refundable $200 to hold your place on the list, with final balance due upon pickup.
All Maltese puppies are sold with limited AKC registration (pet only), starting at $4000. Full registration would be considered on a case-by-case basis for an extra charge.
Deposits should be made electronically via our website (see section below on this page), as well as balances (also through the GoodDog links on this page). Be advised that using the electronic payments through Good Dog does not require an additional transaction fee if the ACH bank transfer option is chosen. Those who choose to use a credit or debit card will incur the standard fee (imposed by Good Dog, not by Mollie's Maltese).
A puppy is NOT reserved until Mollie's Maltese has received the puppy application*, completed signed contract, and deposit. We recommend doing all three at the same time, one right after the other. This three-tier process ensures that all potential buyers are adequately prepared for this investment and it ensures we are consistent with our commitment to not only breeding quality puppies, but ensuring they're all going to loving, prepared forever homes.
We also prefer a phone and/or video call to take place before a deposit is finalized so you can learn more about us and we can learn about you.
*You do not have to wait for an "approval" before moving forward. Though in extreme cases, we may decide a family may not be a good fit for our puppies, it's unlikely, if you've thought carefully through the questions on the application. Please "assume" you're approved and move forward as if you are. Deposit will NOT be accepted if there is a question of "fit," so no worries about losing your deposit because of an application. The primary purpose of the application is to ensure all puppy families have carefully thought through details they may not have otherwise considered.

This section will be updated as changes happen, but always with a date, so you never have to wonder if it’s current or not.
We went several months with nobody in season, which put us a few months behind, but now our girls are making up for lost time because Maggie, Precious, Marsha and Cotton are now all four in season (at the same time)! As of November 7, 2024, here is our current waiting list:
Valerae (Female Puppy)
Ashley (Female Puppy)

Valerae (Male Puppy)
Fatemba (Female Puppy)

Kristen (First Available)
The current ESTIMATE for puppies is approximately 15 (due in November). We will continue accepting deposits, but be advised that it may be Sugar’s litter (due in January, ready in April) before you’ll have another chance. Deposits are non-refundable but are transferable to the next litter.

The old saying, "You get what you pay for" should be considered when evaluating puppy prices. We are neither the least nor the most expensive. Our prices are competitive with other AKC Maltese breeders, especially those who offer a similar experience and quality.
Why $4000?
The experience we offer is and was valuable to our former puppy families. The experience we offer will be valuable to you. You will appreciate what we send you, provide for you, explain to you, show you, etc. Confidence and peace-of-mind with a decision of this magnitude (a new furry family member) is worth it!
We are family-oriented, home-based breeders who socialize their puppies from day one. We are small enough to offer all of our dogs and their puppies very personal attention. We cater the best we can the desires and wishes of every puppy family. They deserve it. We even try to correlate some of the photos and dog toys with the puppy's name once we learn it!
We do DNA genetic health testing on all of our parent dogs to decrease the likelihood that any of our puppies would ever be born with a health problem. We are happy to email links to the parents' test results for the litter in which you're interested. Many breeders don't offer this peace-of-mind, so this peace-of-mind is something most of our puppy families have appreciated. Long-term health can never be an absolute certainty, but having science behind our dogs in this way is much better than "hoping" our puppies will be healthy. We have reasons, based on this testing, to expect them to be. Not only this, but we take each and every one of our dogs to the vet regularly and ALL puppies are examined by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), with exams, vaccines, and health summary prepared by a licensed professional. Some breeders "do it themselves," but while experienced breeders have much knowledge, it cannot replace a veterinary degree. We take pride (and comfort!) in knowing all of our puppies are thoroughly vet-checked.
A quality puppy of this breed is hard to find (especially because each litter average is 3-4 puppies when contrasted with some larger breeds whose litters can reach as high as 15 or more).
It's VERY expensive to do things "the right way." The purchase price of our own Maltese parents, vet bills, and screenings are just some of the high costs of raising Maltese puppies, among other expenses. We also do not do business "under the table," but report all earnings to the IRS, paying all applicable taxes as an honest family.
Our Maltese puppies are registrable with the American Kennel Club (AKC) which is a well-known and highly-respected organization with which thousands of purebred dogs are registered. Though there are other registrations available for many dogs, the AKC tops the list!
Our male is 100% Korean Maltese, imported from South Korea, which makes him and the puppies he sires special. He is dually registered FCI/AKC with 2 FCI champions in his pedigree. "Korean" Maltese is still Maltese and is not a separate breed. Maltese in Korea usually have larger eyes and shorter snouts; they simply look slightly different, just as human beings from different countries are still human, but sometimes look slightly different from each other. With all this said, he's still a special little fellow and there aren't many like him around here in the United States.
We offer and encourage live video calls for your peace-of-mind. Many breeders send pictures and videos (we do, too), but with the prevalence of puppy scammers on the internet, we are delighted to ALSO offer live video calls, as a live video call cannot be falsified. Not only will you see that we have what we've promised, but it is nice to make the acquaintance of our puppy families and vice versa!
Finally, of course these are super cute purebred Maltese puppies. We have a long list of happy and satisfied puppy families (see our reviews), so by getting your Maltese from us, you're joining the Mollie's Maltese family. We are well-established, and this brings confidence with it.
Our former puppy families believe that the difference in what we offer and the comfort level we offer is worth the price.

Health guarantee and other contractual matters are covered in detail on the puppy contract. We take health seriously, which is why we do genetic health testing (through Embark) and multiple vet checks on our parent dogs before allowing them to breed. Though we cannot guarantee that your puppy will never have a health problem, we hope the testing we've done demonstrates our best efforts to ensure the likelihood of health problems is at its lowest. To date, we have acquired and subsequently re-homed (to good, vetted homes) 4 dogs who did not meet our standards. Though these dogs weren't in poor health, they were not good candidates for breeding. Though this caused us sadness and inconvenience, we knew it was the right thing to do for our program, our future puppies, and our puppy families.
We are more than happy to share links to our dogs’ Embark profiles for you to review their genetic health information. Please request these links and we’ll send them, along with a detailed explanation to help you decipher the report :)

To stay in compliance with the American Maltese Association, puppies have to stay with us until 12 weeks. Beyond 12 weeks, will require a boarding fee beginning on the fourth business day after the 12-week point. The extra days are to allow for weekend interruptions, work schedules, etc., though we encourage puppy families to arrange pick-up at 12 weeks. While families wait for their new fur babies, Mollie's Maltese will stay in touch with all who place deposits, sending pictures often (at least weekly) and offering video calls by appointment. We also provide a list of items to prepare during the weeks while you wait for your puppy. This ensures your home is ready for your new Maltese. We also provide guideline suggestions for care, grooming, etc.

Nanny delivery service is available on a case-by-case basis, starting at $75, by car or by plane. We do not crate-ship puppies unaccompanied under any circumstances. Details and pricing for any desired deliveries, meeting halfway, etc. are covered in detail on the puppy contract.

All of our puppies will be microchipped by the time their new families pick them up. We believe strongly in the importance of microchipping after one of our Mollie’s Maltese family had a lost dog returned because of it!
All of our puppies leave for their new homes with goodie bags including paperwork (AKC registration papers, vet report(s), puppy tutorials, etc.), starter food, a coupon for future bags of food (use promo code MOLLIESMALTESE to save 5% when purchasing additional bags of food), a puppy blanket with their mama dog's scent on it, an “Eye Envy” tear stain prevention kit sampler, a doggie dental kit, treats, and a few other fun surprises!
